2nd Updated Report:
Another person has passed away in hospital following the accident on the N4 on Wednesday 11 January 2017. This brings the total fatalities to 7.
The victims are believed to be from Mozambique. None of them have been formally identified yet.
An Update from an Eyewitness:
Eyewitnesses, who was driving right behind the two vehicles, said that a police vehicle crashed into the taxi’s trailer, causing it to jack knife and the taxi to flip and roll.
The taxi driver did nothing wrong and could never have controlled what happened. It was horrific to witness. In 10 seconds or so, all those people were killed and it at first looked like the police van was not going to stop!
But he did eventually and reversed back.
