A 10-year-old boy was killed this morning after he was hit by a bakkie on the N1, 5km outside of Worcester in the Western Cape.
ER24 paramedics, along with provincial services, arrived on the scene and found the body of the young boy lying on the embankment next to the road. Family members and friends that had been walking with the boy were found kneeling around his body.
On assessment, paramedics discovered that the child had sustained numerous injuries to his head, chest and abdomen. Unfortunately, the child had already succumbed to his injuries prior to the arrival of emergency services.
Nothing more could be done for the patient and he was declared dead on scene. It is understood that the boy had attempted to cross the busy road when he was hit by the vehicle.
