EMER-G-MED Emer-G-Med is an Advanced Life Support pre-hospital emergency medical service which operates in the City of Johannesburg, Ekurhuleni and Tshwane, Gauteng.
Three people were killed and upwards of ten others were injured after the taxi they were travelling lost control and rolled off the highway on the N12 West before the Golden Highway at the notorious “Death Bend”, in Lenasia.
EMER-G-MED paramedics arrived alongside other services shortly after 9am to find a taxi in the middle of the veld on it’s wheels after rolling multiple times.
On assessment paramedics found that most of the taxi’s occupants had been ejected from the rolling taxi, and were found strewn across the area.
Three patients were assessed and found to have sustained fatal injuries – they were declared dead on the scene.
Two others required immediate Advanced Life Support intervention and were stabilised on the scene before being transported to a nearby specialist trauma facility under the care of an EMER-G-MED Advanced Life Support Paramedic.
The remaining patients all fortunately escaped with only minor to moderate injuries. They were treated on-scene before being transported to various nearby facilities for further treatment.
EMPD’s specialist Accident Investigation Unit attended the scene to conduct a full investigation.
