EMER-G-MED Paramedics attended this incident.
At 22:41 multiple EMER-G-MED vehicles as well as other services were dispatched to the scene. On arrival paramedics found the child lying in the slow lane of the highway, approximately 30 metres from where the vehicle came to a stop.
On assessment the child showed no signs of life, paramedics attempted to resuscitate the child by performing CPR and other Advanced Life Support skills. Unfortunately, despite their efforts the child was declared dead on the scene.
The two other occupants of the vehicle were uninjured in the crash. JMPD's specialist Accident Investigation Unit were on the scene to investigate the exact events leading up to the collision.
EMER-G-MED Paramedics urge drivers to ensure that ALL occupants of their vehicle are safety buckled up and that young children are in a suitable car seat.
