CAPE TOWN MOTHER KILLED AND SON INJURED IN A COLLISION IN RAVENSMEAD


A woman has been killed and her son injured after a light motor vehicle rear-ended another on De La Rey Road in Ravensmead in the Western Cape.

ER24 paramedics arrived on the scene and found one light motor vehicle against a street pole while the second vehicle was parked on the side of the road.

On inspection, paramedics found the body of a woman lying in the passenger seat of the vehicle. Unfortunately, the woman had already succumbed to her multiple fatal injuries.

Nothing more could be done for the patient and she was declared dead on scene.

A second patient, a man believed to be the deceased son, was found seated in the driver's seat. Assessments showed that the man had sustained moderate injuries.


Paramedics treated the man and thereafter transported him to Tygerberg Provincial Hospital for further treatment.

A young baby boy, believed to be 3-years-old, was also found inside the vehicle. Fortunately, the young patient escape injury.

The occupants in the second vehicle were assessed and found to have escaped injury. Local authorities were on scene for further investigations.
