Mitchell's Plain Cluster operations net 618 suspects. 

Western Cape: Mitchell's Plain Cluster members continued clamping down on crime and criminal activities in its eighth policing precinct during the past week. 

Six hundred and eighteen suspects were apprehended from Friday 15 July to Thursday 21 July.

A total of 242 suspects were arrested for possession of drugs during stop and search operations and 87 houses were searched for drugs. During these operations, 1071.06 g Dagga, 306 Mandrax tablets, 430 g Tik and 127 g Heroin were confiscated.

Crimes against women and children were addressed by arrest of 18 suspects in domestic violence related cases.

Thirty three (33) motorists were issued fines for traffic violations to a total amount of R25 500. Twenty-one premises were also searched to prevent illegal sale of liquor. 

Tracing operations resulted in 47 arrests of wanted persons during 31 operations conducted. 

Police members visited 1002 Spaza shops, mostly owned by foreign nationals, resulting in two firearms being confiscated and three suspects being arrested for possessing illegal firearms.

The Mitchell's Plain Cluster Commander, Major General Gregory Goss, says the police will maintain a zero tolerance approach in the prevention and investigation of crime. He applauded the good work of all members who participated in these operations in conjunction with other security forces.
