THIS WEEK: COLD WET AND IN SOME REGIONS, GALE FORCE WINDS FOR LARGE PARTS OF SA

Cape Town – After a snowy weekend in parts of South Africa, the South African Weather Service has warned a cold front is headed from the South West of the country and is expected to make landfall on Monday morning.

According to the South African Weather Service there is a 60% chance of rain on Monday over the Western Cape, while a 30% chance of showers could be expect across the rest of SA’s coastal regions all the way through to KZN.

Gale force south-westerly winds of up to 65km/ hour could be expected between Cape St Francis and Port Alfred , while gale force south-westerly winds could be expected from port Edward and Maputo, moderating towards the evening.

People can expect some very low temperatures this week, with some light rains. There has been some light snowfall on some mountains, and that can be expected again this week.

The cold, rainy weather was expected to persist this week, with the SA Weather Service warning of low temperatures across the province.

The South African Weather Service says a cold front is expected to hit the Western Cape by midday on Sunday.

Forecar, Mmathapelo Makgabutlane, says Capetonians should prepare themselves for low temperatures and steady rainfall. Makgabutlane has warned of possible gale force winds over the interior of the country.

At the moment we have a special weather advisory out mainly aimed at farmers and people in agriculture for very wet and cold conditions with the passage of this cold front.

As well as a special weather advisory for strong winds for areas over the interior of the country and a possibility of a gale force winds along the South West coast and the south coast,” says Makgabutlane.
