Requirements
Minimum educational qualification:

  • Senior Certificate (or equivalent) with Mathematics and/or Accounting as a passed subject and/or Senior Certificate (or equivalent) with experience/competencies that focuses on the Key Performance Areas (KPA’s) of the post.

Inherent requirement of the job:

  • Willingness to work overtime when necessary.

Competencies (knowledge/skills):

  • Experience in HIS and/or Delta 9 Accounts Receivable Systems and computer literacy (MS Word and Excel).
  • Knowledge of UPFS/Hospital Memorandum Chapter 18 and PFMA (Public Finance Management Act).
  • Knowledge of Billing for State Departments (RAF, SANDF, SAPS, DCS and COIDA).
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) in at least two of the three official languages of the Western Cape.

Duties (key result areas/outputs):

  • Ensure accurate assessment of patients according to the means test and billing of patient accounts, raising and releasing of invoices and debiting of charge entries to invoices as per UPFS billing procedures.
  • Ensure submissions of EDI and paper claims and assist with EDI rejections and resubmissions.
  • Liaise with debtors and private companies (Medical Aids, etc.) and other relevant stakeholders telephonically, in person or in writing on outstanding balances.
  • Ensure submission of invoices to State Departments and assist hospitals to clear State Department backlogs in terms of outstanding invoices.

SALARY:

R 123 738 per annum

Please note: The cost of living adjustment for April 2015 is not included in this salary notch.
