||The Western Cape Government is seeking to employ a qualified individual to conduct economic research and manage the development of provincial economic policy and plans. This position is based in Cape Town.
||• Honours Degree in Economics or related degree; • A minimum of 6 years of technical/ scientific experience; • A valid driver’s licence (code B).
||• Master’s Degree qualification in Economics or related; • Project Management and Relation Management experience.
|Key Performance Areas
||• Develop economic research methodologies and systems; • Conduct and manages provincial economic impact assessments; • Drive and manage economic research; • Ensure vertical and horizontal alignment of economic research, policy and plans of relevant stakeholders; • Develop and influence a policy framework input for draft provincial economic legislation; • Financial management; • Provide inputs into the Budget Review and Medium-term Budget Policy Statement; • Compile research papers and provide inputs into presentations, speeches and briefing notes.
||• Knowledge of the following: o Economic research and analysis; o Statistical information applied in economics; o Stats and other statistical programs; o Applicable policies and procedures; o Development and labour economics; o Public service procedures; o Financial management; • Communication (written and verbal) skills in at least two of the three official languages of the Western Cape; • Proven computer literacy (MS Office); • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines; • Sound analytical reasoning and problem solving skills.
||R 569 538 - R 670 890 per annum - Salary level 11 (all-inclusive salary package).
Note on remuneration:
Cost-to-employer (CTE) remuneration packages for certain occupation-specific dispensations (OSD), the middle-management service (MMS) and contract positions are inclusive of all costs related to service benefits or obligations including basic salary, 13th cheque, medical assistance, housing assistance, pension-fund contributions, etc.
MMS remuneration packages are flexible and may be individually structured as prescribed.
Where remuneration is not indicated as CTE, employees' service benefits or obligations are funded or co-funded in terms of the applicable prescripts or collective agreements.
