A woman, believed to be in her late 30s, was left seriously injured this morning after she was knocked over by a bakkie while crossing the Rodger Sishi Road in Westville, KwaZulu Natal.
Upon arrival on scene, ER24 paramedics found the pedestrian lying in the middle of the road. An off-duty doctor, who had come across the scene, was found to be treating the patient.
ER24 paramedics took over assessment from the doctor, finding that the patient had sustained numerous injuries, leaving her in a serious condition.
The patient was treated for her injuries and thereafter transported to RK Khan Hospital for further treatment.
The diver of the bakkie fortunately escaped injury.
Local authorities were on scene for further investigations.
