Paramedics in Cape Town have responded to eight vehicle collisions which were most likely caused by severely flooded roads.
ER24 spokesperson, Werner Vermaak says they also responded to several incidents in which they assisted in blocking off flooded roads that posed a risk to commuters as well as trees that fell across roads.
The most affected areas include the N2 in Maccassar, Du Toits Kloof pass; several roads in Strand, Rhodes drive in Constantia, the N1 between the weighbridge and the tunnel and Prince George Road in Steenberg. Meanwhile Cape Town Disaster Management teams have their hands full as a brutal storm batters the Cape Peninsula.
More than 150 houses have been flooded on the Cape Flats. The storm has also flooded roads and brought down trees and power lines. Flights have been delayed by up to three hours.
