ER24 is an Emergency Medical Service providing efficient, effective emergency response and pre-hospital care.
Five people were injured this afternoon, including four children, after their vehicle rolled and crashed into a tree on the R501 outside of Potchefstroom.
ER24 paramedics arrived on the scene and found the light motor vehicle lying upside down against a tree. The five occupants, a mother and her four children, were found lying outside the vehicle a short distance away.
On assessment, paramedics found that one child, a boy aged 9, had sustained critical injuries a while to mother and three girls, aged between 1 and 3, had escaped with only moderate injuries.
Paramedics immediately began their treatment and provided the critically injured child with advanced life support treatment.
Once treated, paramedics transported the critically injured boy and one of his sisters to Potchefstroom Provincial Hospital for further care. Th mother and two remaining children chose to be transported privately to hospital.
It is believed that the driver lost control of the vehicle, causing it to roll and eject the occupants.
Local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.
