According to William Ntladi, spokesperson of Ekurhuleni Disaster and Emergency Services, they received a call about an accident on Besembos Street, Edleen in Kempton Park.
On arrival, Emergency services found that 4 vehicles and a total of 8 patients was involved in the accident.
Seven of the patients sustained only minor injuries and unfortunately 1 person suffered severe/critical injuries and was declared dead on the scene. The scene was handed over to EMPD for further investigation.
Ntladi said that: “Two cars were going west, while the other two were travelling east when the accident occurred. The cause of the accident is unknown and is under investigation by Metro Police.”
Russel Meiring, ER24 spokesperson said that the two paramedics were on their way to an emergency when the accident occurred.
Both paramedics sustained minor injuries and were taken to hospital. He said an investigation will be launched into the accident.
The accident happened Thursday morning, just before 08h00.
