EMER-G-MED Paramedics attended this accident scene.EMER-G-MED Emer-G-Med is an Advanced Life Support pre-hospital emergency medical service which operates in the City of Johannesburg, Ekurhuleni and Tshwane, Gauteng.
Eight people were injured this evening after the taxi they were travelling in overturned on the corner of Harrison and Wolmerans in Braamfontein - central Johannesburg.
Just after 7.30pm EMER-G-MED's M01, A06 and A11 responded to the scene, arriving to find the taxi on its side - with the occupants seated on the pavement and others walking around.
It's believed that the taxi was travelling through the intersection, when it was hit by a speeding vehicle which skipped the red traffic light - causing the taxi to overturn. The speeding vehicle then fled the scene.
Seven passengers sustained minor injuries. The eighth, a heavily pregnant woman, sustained moderate injuries.
The patients were all treated on-scene before being transported to various nearby hospitals for further assessment.
JMPD were on the scene and were investigation a case of hit and run, as well as reckless and negligent driving.
