It is alleged the vehicle was making deliveries at a shopping centre in Fairbridge, Brackenfell , when a gold colour Honda Ballade with four unidentified armed suspects suddenly stopped next to it.
Two of the suspects then got out, one pointing the driver with a firearm, they bundled him into the back and drove off. They then stopped after a short distance along William Dabs Road where a white Isuzu LDV, Toyota Camry and the earlier mentioned gold Honda surrounded by unknown number of suspects. After emptying the LDV the suspects fled the scene leaving behind the victim and his vehicle.
The victim managed to flag for help from the securities within the vicinity of the mall and they drove around the area in search of the suspects, the Isuzu LDV was then spotted leading to the apprehension of one suspect. The others managed to get away on foot. Several boxes of cigarettes were recovered, the abandoned LDV was impounded.
The 20 year old suspect will appear at Kuilsrivier Magistrate’s Court soon facing charges relating to hijacking.
