Hoosain Dudukay from Rylands, known to his family as "Abba", has been described as a religious and jovial man. His wife died about 30 years ago but he's surrounded by four children, 15 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
Dudukay, who was born in 1910, travelled with his father from India to South Africa at the age of eight. He's been living in Cape Town ever since. His granddaughter, Aneesa Hoosain, says one of the centenarian's guilty pleasures is a peanut butter sandwich with his tea.
“He’s a religious man who prays every day and goes to mosque on Fridays. He is also very independent and has a great sense of humour.”
