13 July 2016, Durban, Kwa-Zulu Natal - UPDATED: Three people have been killed and one person left with moderate injuries after a horrific accident on the N2 North Bound near the NPC Cement Factory in Durban on Saturday night.
Just after 7pm Rescue Care Paramedics arrived at on the accident scene and found carnage.
A minibus and a bakkie had collided however the minibus came to rest on top of the bakkie. One person was still entrapped in the one vehicle however he had sustained multiple injuries and was declared deceased on the scene.
One other person was also found on the scene having sustained fatal injuries. One person had sustained moderate injuries and was stabilised on the scene by Rescue Care’s Advanced Life Support Paramedic before being transported to a nearby hospital for the further care that he required.
Traffic was severely affected as only the slow lane was open for vehicles to trickle through. The freeway was then closed from the M1 Higginson Highway to allow emergency personal to complete their work.
At this stage it is unclear what caused the accident however the SAPS Accident Unit was on the scene and will be investigating further.
