On Saturday night at 18h50 Netcare 911 paramedics and the fire services responded to a horrific collision along Robert Broom Street, Rant en Dal, Krugersdorp. Reports from the scene indicate that the vehicle with two adults and three children veered off the roadway and collided with a tree.
Paramedics arrived at the scene and found accident debris and pieces of vehicle consistent with that of a high impact collision spread over a large area. The impact was of such that the vehicle was ripped in two. Paramedics found that a four-year-old-boy sustained life-threatening injuries. Two other children and two adults tragically died at the scene due to the extensive injuries that they sustained.
Emergency services and paramedics worked fervently at the scene to stabilise the critically wounded boy before he was airlifted on board the NetCare medical helicopter to a specialised hospital. Tragically the child died in flight due to the extensive injuries that he sustained.
