Earlier this morning there has been a fatal crash on the N2 highway, near Hibberdine on the KZN South Coast. Tragically two people have sustained fatal injuries in the crash, which involved three light motor vehicles.
Paramedics from KZN Department of Health’s Emergency Medical Service were part of the team of emergency personnel who worked together to treat two patients who had sustained injuries in the crash. One patient had sustained critical injuries; while the other patient had sustained injuries which were serious in nature.
Rescuers had to use to the “Jaws of Life” to extricate one of the victims from one of the crushed motor vehicles. After receiving treatment, the injured patients were transported to hospital by paramedics from private ambulance services.
The police are investigating the exact cause of the crash.
