Sadly the 8-year-old boy were killed on Saturday afternoon by an alleged reckless driver in William Taylor Street in Bellville South, Cape Town.
Christiano's mother, Edwina, said that she went to a friend's house to help her with some homework, and she took her son with.
He went to the shop down the road. When he took too long to return, I went outside and down the road to see what is taking him so long. It then when I saw him laying on the pavement. I yelled, "Christiano! But he was just lying there, motionless," she said very sadly.
"When I saw the blood, I knew my child was hurt," said the mom. "He was the type of child that if he fell, he would get back up again. I just knew something was wrong when I saw the blood."
Some of the bystanders said that Christiano walked across the pedestrian crossing at Winsley Primary when a car came speeding around the corner and hit him with such a force that he landed across the r5oad on the sidewalk. The car then crashed into one of the residents boundary wall.
The car apparently belongs to a 'mert' and it is alleged that the driver is a 'tikkop'.
Edwina smiled when she said that her little boy was very helpful. "At the school parents' meeting, the teacher told me that Christiano would stay behind because he insisted to help the teacher to clean the classroom,". Christiano was a Gr.2 learner.
His father, Shahied, said that: "Christiano brought life into the Wendyhouse."
Shahied also said that Christiano was named after the Real Madrid Soccer star, Cristiano Ronaldo, and that he's dream was, to be a soccer player for the Bellville United Soccer Team one day.
Police spokesman, Capt. FC van Wyk, said a case of culpable homicide was being investigated. A suspect (38) was arrested and appeared in the Bellville Magistrate's Court on Tuesday, 5 July 2016.
