Stellenbosch - Multiple vehicles from ER24 and Metro Services arrived on the scene at 19h40.
Upon arrival, paramedics found that the transport vehicle sat in the middle of the road while the SUV was found on the side of the road. Both vehicles had sustained a considerable amount of damage in the collision.
Local authorities on scene began to close off the road while emergency crews began their inspection of the scene. The driver of the SUV, a woman, as well as the driver of the transporter, a man, were found trapped in their vehicles, both in a serious condition.
Three other male patients, from the transporter, were found walking around on the scene with moderate injuries. Using specialised tools, Rescue Services managed to free the patients in a few short minutes.
Paramedics treated the patients and provided the seriously injured patients with advanced life support interventions. All the patients were thereafter transported to various hospitals for urgent treatment.
The details surrounding the incident are not yet known but local authorities were on scene for further investigations.
