Yesterday just after 4pm EMER-G-MED's RV5 was dispatched to reports of a motorbike crash in Rifle Range and Keats, in Southgate - Johannesburg's south rand.

On arrival our Advanced Life Support paramedics found that the critically injured motorcyclist had already been loaded into the back of another service's ambulance.

While assessing the biker, who had sustained severe trauma to his chest and abdomen, his heart stopped beating. Paramedics immediately began CPR and initiated a full Advanced Life Support resuscitation.

After a few minutes they managed to get a pulse back and the patient was rushed to Netcare Union Hospital with our ALS Paramedic on-board to treat him.

Unfortunately the biker later died in hospital.

Local authorities were on the scene to investigate the exact events leading up to the fatal collision.
