EMER-G-MED Paramedics attended this accident scene.EMER-G-MED Emer-G-Med is an Advanced Life Support pre-hospital emergency medical service which operates in the City of Johannesburg, Ekurhuleni and Tshwane, Gauteng.
Last night three people were injured, one critically so, after two vehicles collided on the N12 West at the Camaro Road off-ramp - south of Johannesburg.
Just after 7pm EMER-G-MED's RV5, M02 and A10 arrived on the scene.
It's believed that a car was reversing on highway after missing its offramp. It was then rear-ended at a high-speed by a bakkie, causing the car to catch alight.
Fortunately bystanders pulled the car's occupants from the burning vehicle, freeing them from being trapped in the blaze.
On arrival paramedics found the three patients lying outside the vehicle. The critically injured patient sustained a serious head injury and required rapid Advanced Life Support intervention.
The patient was intubated and placed on life support before being rushed to a nearby trauma hospital by EMER-G-MED. The two other patients sustained moderate injuries and were transported to a nearby medical facility by another ambulance service.
Firefighters worked to extinguish the blaze. Once the fire was out, the scene was handed over to local authorities for the relevant investigations.
