A cold front moving in from the west brought snow to parts of KwaZulu-Natal and the Free State. Places affected included Nottingham Road, Impendle, Kamberg, Drakensberg Gardens, Mooi River, Ladysmith, Van Reenen’s Pass, Harrismith and Bethlehem./p>
“While this may sound like an exciting and adventurous outing for the family‚ things can go wrong quickly so we advise motorists to steer clear of the affected parts of the route unless there is a good reason to be there‚” the AA added.
Apart from checking weather conditions and warnings regularly‚ the N3TC has also advised motorists who do travel to the area to pack extra blankets‚ food and refreshments in the event they are caught in lengthy closures. People with medical conditions should ensure they travel with sufficient medical supplies.
The heavy weather may also affect communication systems‚ and all motorists are advised that should they travel to these parts‚ cellphone reception may be limited or unavailable.
