MAN IN HIS 30's FIGHTING FOR HIS LIFE AFTER HIT BY VEHICLE WHILE PLACING WARNING TRIANGLE ON ROAD


A man in his late thirties is fighting for his life after being struck by a vehicle on the N3 South at the N12 Split in the Elands Interchange, south east of Johannesburg.

EMER-G-MED's RV5, M02 and A09 responded to the emergency call shortly after 9pm. Arriving to find a man had been hit by a vehicle whilst walking to put out his warning triangle, allegedly after his vehicle broke down in the middle of the highway.

The car then collided with the broken down vehicle.


On assessment paramedics found that the man had sustained critical injuries, including serious head and chest injuries, and required rapid Advanced Life Support intervention.

The man was intubated and put on a ventilator before being rushed to a nearby hospital for further specialist management.

EMPD is on the scene to conduct the relevant investigation.
