An integrated operation conducted by Manenberg SAPS including Law Enforcement officers saturated Manenberg residential area during a high density, cordon off search, crime prevention operation today (Friday, 2016-09-16) at 02:00.
The operation focused on crimes including gang violence and drug dealing including illegal possession of firearms and ammunition.
The crime prevention operation was executed under the command of Colonel Hendri Hugo and members were deployed within the hot spot areas of gang infested areas of Manenberg.
During the operation more than 50 addresses were targeted and searches were conducted that led to the confiscation of R26 150 cash and 60grams of dagga.
One firearm that was found in possession of the registered owner, has been handed in, to be sent for ballistic testing as a routine investigation to ensure that the firearm was not used in any commission of crimes.
Fifteen persons including two females aged 18 and 36 respectively and 13 males aged between 23 and 50 were arrested for outstanding cases that will now be finalised for court dates.
This focus approach, intelligent driven operation will continue to ensure the safety of the community of Manenberg.
Colonel Hendri Hugo vowed that he will not allow gang related activities to jeapodise the safety of the community of Manenberg.
