A mother of Cape Town recently turned to Social media to express her feelings regarding the safety of her child at Fairbairn College, in Goodwood.
"That is my son on the floor, as a mother it breaks my heart to see this. Fairbairn College has told me that they cannot guarantee my child's safety after I told them he is afraid to go to school, the principal saw this video and still these boys are not suspended yet."
Other parents and social media users reacted on this video and within 2 days, this video was shared more than 2000 times.
The mother decided to take this matter further and whent to see the vice principal and the principal at Fairbairn College.
Dear moms and dads...
I had a meeting with the vice and principal now, the principal has ensured me that he is following the correct channels and will give me feedback with regards to the boys being suspended or any actions they will follow.
He advised that he can guarantee that the beef between the boys has stopped. He also advised that this boy shukree was employed by my son to protect or help him in a fight?
He told me this boy will have witnesses but I know that this boy will ask children to lie for him as he is a repeat offender!
My son has told the principal that he has never had such a conversation with this child and i told the principal if my son owed him any money he would have paid it because he has more than a R50 on him at all times, so this boy is spinning this story.
Thank you for all your support I can see this has made them act faster, the principal has asked me to stop the Facebook posts but unfortunately there so many kids and parents who has gone through the same thing and it was just swept under his cream carpet.
I want to say thank you to Mr Standish as he is the only teacher that has shown so much empathy and is always available to help!
