Two men sustained serious injuries when their vehicle crashed through a fence and landed on train tracks near Parow Train Station, Cape Town.
Shortly after midnight paramedics from ER24 and Life Healthcare arrived on the scene where they found the vehicle lying on its roof on the tracks. The occupants were found trapped inside of the overturned vehicle.
Rescue workers from Metro Rescue and the local Fire Department had to stabilise the vehicle in order to extricate the two men from the vehicle. Once freed, paramedics were able to completely assess the patients and their injuries. Both sustained multiple fractures and lacerations.
They were later transported by ER24 and Metro EMS through to Tygerberg Hospital for further care.
The exact cause of the incident is not yet known.
