On Saturday afternoon at 12h27 Netcare 911 paramedics and their rescue unit responded to a collision on the M25 near the Sasol service station.

Paramedics and the Netcare rescue officer arrived at the scene and found the roadway obstructed with accident debris, the twisted remains of the vehicles and fuel that was pouring from a ruptured fuel tank in the Mini.

On investigation medics found that the driver of the mini was in a critical condition while his passenger was seriously injured, both men still trapped in the twisted frame of the car.

The rescue officer used the Jaws of Life to cut the roof from the vehicle to allow paramedics to stabilise and extricate the injured.

After the critically injured man was placed on a ventilator and immobilised on a trauma board, the Netcare 911 paramedics transported him to a specialised facility under the constant care of an advanced life support paramedic.

The other patient was treated at the scene and then transported to a local hospital by another private ambulance service.
