Western Cape: Two men are expected to appear in the Athlone Magistrates’ court tomorrow after they were arrested in possession of an illegal firearm and ammunition.

Police who were on patrol, acted on a tip-off and recovered an illegal firearm at a cash store in Browns Farm. The Taurus 38 special revolver recovered in the shop was reported stolen in Durbanville SAPS.

The duo aged 22 and 17 will soon appear on n court for the illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition and possession of suspected stolen property.

In another incident a 18-year-old suspect is expected to appear in the Athlone Magistrates’ Court tomorrow facing a charge of murder. The suspect was arrested on Friday.

He was wanted for the alleged fatal stabbing of a 20 year old man in Samora Machel on 27 August 2016.

With the assistance of the public, police busted the suspect and arrested him in Samora Machel. The suspect was also wanted for a case of rape and house robbery and is also facing these charges.

In another incident two suspects aged 20 and 22 were also arrested on Friday afternoon minutes after they robbed someone in Eisleben Road, Crossroads.

The victim just got off a taxi and shortly after three suspects walked towards him, one threatening him with a firearm and robbed his cell phone.

The victim tried to chase the suspects and while chasing them a police van came to his rescue and caught the two suspects.

The members were applauded for their vigilance and dedication by the Station Commander Brigadier Vuyisile Ncata.
